Recently, as it analyzed president Muhammadu Buhari’s first 30 days in office, Channels Television reported that over 600 lives have been lost to Boko Haram attacks. This implies that an average of 20 lives were lost daily! The numbers haven’t stopped there with the continued attacks still being reported.
We remember that few weeks to the elections, things seemed a bit calm. The pulse was that the Boko Haram had been starved of arms and ammunitions owing to the focused penetration of the military in that axis. So what went wrong? What exactly encouraged the insurgent group to re-organise and come back worse than ever before? What really is the lasting solution to this situation?
